Star Wars icon Mark Hamill and his spouse, Marilou York, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in December 2018. In case you don’t know, the longtime couple didn’t meet in Hollywood or at a star-studded party as many celebrity couples do. Instead, they came across each other at a dentist’s office.

At the time, York was working as a dental hygienist, and Hamill was a patient. They started dating, but their relationship, however, didn’t take off from there. The actor admitted that the degree of fame from the legendary movie got to his head. This, in return, affected their relationship, and they split up for a while. Eventually, he wanted something to hold onto— a family. That’s when he thought of marriage, and as you might have guessed, York was “the right one.” They wed in December 1978 in an intimate ceremony in Malibu and later welcomed three children together: Nathan, Griffin, and Chelsea.
