Rowan Atkinson | Born 1955

Rowan Atkinson had perhaps been drawn to comedy because of an inner urge that moved him to contort his face and apply comedic gestures that would, later on, plunge him to fame. While studying for a master’s degree at Oxford, Atkinson worked with actor Richard Curtis and composer Howard Goodall, where his schoolmaster sketch propelled him to stardom. In 1990, Atkinson starred in the TV program Mr. Bean, who was known for living through everyday situations that became entertaining because of his clumsiness and different schemes.

The aforementioned show won the 1990 Montreux Festival Golden Rose, an International Emmy for best popular arts program in 1991, and an American Cable Ace Award three years after. In a recent interview, Atkinson, 66, expressed his sentiments regarding the online “cancel culture.” The actor is obviously not fond of the simplistic view of society.
